STEVE'S DRIVING SCHOOL was formed in 2005 after my retirement from The Avon and Somerset Constabulary.  As a Police Officer, I was an advanced driver and wanted to carry on my work in road safety by teaching others how to drive. (Properly!!)  With that in mind, I studied to become an Approved Driving Instructor.

After qualifying, I joined the AA Driving School for a short time, but soon founded my own business to offer the people of Weston-Super-Mare and surrounding areas a better deal, without compromising on the highest professional instruction.

Since that time I have taught many people to drive, many of whom have passed their test at the first attempt.  It is always helpful to remember that I do not teach you JUST to pass the test, but how to keep yourself as safe as possible on the road, for the rest of your driving career!

THE TEST AND BEYOND.

As well as being taught to drive to a high standard, I will also pass on lots of useful hints and tips to give you the best possible advantage when the big day arrives. From explaining what will happen on the test, and showing you the test centre itself, to explaining the benefits of taking your instructor on the test with you. (But that is entirely your choice!)  I offer a one-stop service from teaching you to drive safely, to passing the test,then onto the Pass Plus course (See the "Services" page to find out more about Pass Plus), and then onto more advanced driving techniques if you want to be even more professional.  You could even be an instructor one day!!  Of course, you may feel that after you have passed your test, you do not want to progress any further, and of course that is your choice.

DRIVING INSTRUCTOR TRAINING.

Driving Instructor Training is also on offer from STEVE'S DRIVING SCHOOL.  Careful consideration should be given and independent advice sought, before committing to "signing-up" to any company for training.  Most companies that offer this training insist on you signing a contract and handing over thousands of pounds up front.  STEVE'S DRIVING SCHOOL is very different.  No contract to sign.  No money up front, and a pay as you go policy.  In other words, you pay for your training as you take it, NOT in advance, with the added security that if you find you are not suited to the profession, you can walk away and lose NOTHING.  Most training organisations will keep ALL of the money you paid in advance, potentially losing you thousands if you do not complete the course or pass ALL the qualifying exams!  For more information and an informal chat, please contact us.

NERVOUS DRIVERS

I have taught many nervous people to drive over the past few years.  I allow you to learn at your own pace, never forcing you to do anything beyond your capabilities.  I treat learning to drive as a partnership: In other words always listening to you with regards your thoughts on your progress, and working together for a common goal.  Some qualified drivers have benefited from my services after having accidents, finding it hard to regain their confidence when they first get back behind the wheel.  I gently coach them back to driving confidence so they are once again able to fully function as a member of the driving community.
